Prescription drugs reported stolen
Spring Township police are investigating a burglary Thursday morning on the 100 block of North Main Street.
A woman told police she returned home after being out less than an hour to find her residence had been broken into. The woman told police she looked around and found that the only things missing were two bottles of prescription drugs — the pain killer Oxycodone, and Valium — and a quart bag of rolled cigarettes.
Anyone with information on this burglary is asked to call Spring Township police at 814- 355-5134.
Alpha cleans up gasoline spill at Snappy’s
Alpha Fire Company cleaned up a gas spill Thursday afternoon at Snappy’s on University Drive in State College after a man drove away from a gas pump with the nozzle still in his vehicle.
State College police said 15 to 20 gallons spilled just before 5 p.m.
Woman in hospital after one-vehicle crash
A Clarence woman was treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center after a crash on the 1600 block of Clarence Road in Snow Shoe around noon Thursday.
State police say Helen June Gomola, 82, was driving north when she crossed both lanes and hit a tree in front of a house.
Her car had major front-end damage and a fire erupted in the engine compartment, police said.
Gomola was pulled from the vehicle by the person living at the house.
Vehicle stolen, found with toolbox missing
State police at Rockview are investigating the theft of a black Chevrolet Blazer from a Dublinwood Apartment Complex in Milesburg that was later found parked behind a church in Milesburg.
A toolbox was missing from the vehicle when it was found, police said.
The theft happened sometime since 1 a.m. Monday.

PSU professors to be on Time magazine list
The Penn State professors behind the famous project that sequenced the genome of the woolly mammoth are joining the likes of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Tina Fey in Time magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people.
Stephan Schuster and Webb Miller led the team that became the first to report the DNA sequencing of an extinct animal.
“Last year, Schuster, 47, and Miller, 65, both of Penn State University, successfully sequenced the DNA of the 20,000-year-old woolly mammoth,” the story by scientist J. Craig Venter reads. “In doing so, they helped science overcome what had been seen as an insurmountable obstacle.”

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Centre County and Cooperative Extension annual green thumb expo plant sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 16 at the Ag Progress Days special events barn.
The barn is located off state Route 45 at entry K. Coming from State College, take West College Avenue to the light in Pine Grove Mills. Continue on Route 45 for 5 miles.
The event will include the sale of tomato plants, peppers, perennials, house plants, native plants and more.
There will be education sessions, and gardeners can drop off plastic plant pots for recycling.
