closePolice investigate vehicle thefts in Pleasant Gap
Spring Township police are investigating a series of vehicle thefts in Pleasant Gap from Sunday night into Monday morning.
Police say more than 25 unlocked vehicles were entered, mostly on South Main, Nittany and Noll streets. Small amounts of cash were taken, totaling more than $700. An Apple laptop computer, valued at $1,800, was also taken, along with several iPods, police say.
Many of the items were recovered, and it appears that “whoever stole the items walked on foot for some distance and got tired of carrying heavier items and left them behind,” police say.
Police are now looking for a suspicious vehicle that was reported in the area around that time.
Anyone with information is asked to call Spring Township police at 800-479-0050.
Driver uninjured after losing control of truck
A steering system malfunction caused a driver to lose control of his Ford F-350 pickup at 11 a.m. Monday while driving on state Route 445 north of Krislund Drive in Madisonburg.
Gregory H. Kilmer, 49, of Towanda, was not injured, according to state police at Rockview.
Police said the truck struck an embankment on the left side of the road and rolled on the right side. Walker Township and Nittany Valley fire companies assisted at the scene.
