closeBids opened for Welch Pool renovation
STATE COLLEGE — Poole Anderson Construction, of State College, is the apparent low bidder to become the general contractor on the William L. Welch Community Swimming Pool renovation, with a bid of $1.43 million, Centre Region Parks and Recreation said.
The apparent low bid for construction of the swimming pool itself was submitted by Main Line Commercial Pools, of King of Prussia, at $1.69 million, the recreation agency said.
In the two other bids opened Wednesday, Mountainside Electric, of Rebersburg, was the apparent low bidder for electrical construction at $258,000, and Allied Mechanical and Electrical, of State College, came in lowest for plumbing construction, at $198,000.
The bids will be evaluated and a recommendation with respect to accepting the various bidders and alternates will be prepared for action by the authority board at 12:15 p.m. Nov. 5, in the Council of Governments general forum room.
