Paternoville halted by freezing weather

With temperatures forecast to stay below freezing for the next few days, "Paternoville" has become a no-camping zone.

University spokeswoman Lisa Powers said those involved in the student-run Paternoville — the name given the tradition of camping outside Beaver Stadium before home games — have agreed that camping won't be allowed when the air temperature drops below freezing.

According to forecasts, the temperature won't rise above freezing Friday or Saturday.

“Camping overnight in temperatures that dip below 32 degrees puts too much risk on the health of the students,” Powers said, noting that students can still pitch their tents, and hang out there from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Penn State dorms are open until Sunday at noon at no charge to student residents. They will close Sunday afternoon for a week-long Thanksgiving break.
