PENN STATE CLASS OF 2010

Here are the Class of 2010 prospects who have orally committed to Penn State:

Mike Hull, LB, Canonsburg (Canon McMillan) 6-1, 205 (Nov. 22)

Notes: Has the frame and athleticism to play either outside linebacker or strong safety but will most likely wind up as a linebacker. His father and uncle played for Penn State.

Paul “P.J.” Jones, QB, McKees Rocks (Sto-Rox) 6-2, 215 (Jan. 17)

Notes: Versatile run-pass threat who committed early, opened his recruitment, then decided to stick with Penn State during Blue-White weekend. Will push Kevin Newsome for starting job in 2010.

Adrian Coxson, WR, Baltimore, Md. (City College) 6-2, 194 (April 30)

Notes: Big, skilled receiver with solid speed and great frame. Picked Penn State over top schools like Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Notre Dame.

Silas Redd, RB, Stamford, Ct. (King & Low-Heywood Thomas) 5-10, 190 (May 3)

Notes: Quick, agile and has straight-ahead speed (4.45 in the 40) to boot. Well-balanced athlete who should push for playing time in a deep backfield.

Luke Graham, OL, Harrison City (Penn-Trafford) 6-5, 260 (May 4)

Notes: Athletic lineman who ran a sub-5.0 40-yard dash. He has some weight to put on but could play tackle (his high school position) or guard in college.

Miles Dieffenbach, OL, Pittsburgh (Fox-Chapel) 6-5, 277 (June 2)

Notes: Played both center and offensive tackle in high school; projects as an interior lineman, likely a center, in college. One of state’s top lineman prospects.

Thomas Ricketts, OL, Wexford (North Allegheny) 6-5, 260 (June 3)

Notes: Father, Tom, played offensive line for Pitt and the Steelers. Has the frame and versatility to play guard or tackle in college.

Kyle Baublitz, DL, York (Central York) 6-4, 254 (June 14)

Notes: Played linebacker and tight end in high school but projects as a defensive end at the next level. Chose Penn State over offers from more than a dozen major programs.

Evan Hailes, DL, Chesapeake, Va. (Oscar Smith) 6-2, 305 (June 26)

Notes: Reportedly bench-presses 410 pounds and squats 550. Made 81 tackles and 11 sacks as a junior. Will likely be a one-technique tackle in college.

DaQuan Jones, DL, Johnson City, N.Y. (Johnson City) 6-4, 300 (June 27)

Notes: Will likely play defensive tackle at Penn State but could play offensive line as well. Recorded 60 tackles and three sacks during his junior season.

Levi Norwood, WR, Waco, Texas (Midway) 6-1, 170 (July 1)

Notes: Older brother, Jordan, is Penn State’s fourth-leading career receiver. Doesn’t possess elite speed but has great hands and body control.

Robert Bolden, QB, Orchard Lake, Mich. (St. Mary’s) 6-4, 195 (July 10)

Notes: One of nation’s top-ranked dual-threat quarterbacks. Can throw the ball with touch or strength and escape the pocket when needed.

Alex Kenney, WR, State College (State College) 6-0, 195 (July 14)

Notes: Starred on gridiron and on track for the Little Lions. Speed specialist who lined up as a receiver and a running back in high school. Held offers from more than 20 other schools.

Kevin Haplea, TE, Annandale, N.J. (North Hunterdon) 6-4, 230 (July 27)

Notes: Averaged 13 yards per catch as a junior and made nine sacks as a defensive end. Will provide another big, athletic target for future PSU quarterbacks.

Dakota Royer, DE/LB, Manheim (Manheim Central) 6-3, 220 (July 30)

Notes: Projects as a standup defensive end or outside linebacker in college. Great athleticism, instincts and motor. First-team all-state as junior.

Zach Zwinak, FB, Frederick, Md. (Linganore) 6-1, 230 (Sept. 15)

Notes: Nation’s top-rated fullback by both Rivals and Scout. Ran for 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior, earning first-team all-state honors. Fast, strong and tough. Also an effective linebacker.

C.J. Olaniyan, DE, Warren, Mich. (Warren Mott) 6-5, 230 (Sept. 16)

Notes: Made 85 tackles and nine sacks and also caught 33 passes during his junior season.

Dominique Easley, DE, Staten Island, N.Y. (Curtis) 6-2, 260 (Sept. 19)

Notes: Top-ranked overall prospect in New York state. Had 10 sacks as a junior and five through the first three games of his senior season.

Khairi Fortt, LB, Stamford, Conn. (Stamford) 6-2, 220 (Sept. 26)

Notes: Has physical tools — size, strength and instincts — to contribute immediately. Made nearly 120 tackles as a junior. Army All-America selection.

Khamrone Kolb, OL, Burke, Va. (Lake Braddock) 6-6, 300 (Oct. 17)

Notes: Has played both tackle and guard, as well tight end, during his high school career. Chose Penn State over Wisconsin, Virginia and Connecticut.
