Madeira on the mike

Posted by crosenbl on June 2, 2009

Mike Madeira surprised me when I saw him recently.
He stood in front of the Centre County Courthouse, like me attending a ceremony honoring law enforcement officers killed nationwide last year in the line of duty. Without a program, I figured the county's district attorney and top prosecutor would speak for the occasion.
    Instead, he sang.
At the start, Madeira crooned the national anthem, hitting the highs and lows in a respectable performance. I'm not saying he's ready to challenge Kris Allen if he's voted out of office this fall, but a few sports gigs wouldn't be out of the question. He did a better job with the rockets' red glare than many I've heard.
