I am very upset with the treatment of our returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan when it comes to medical treatment and disabilities.
Many returning vets suffer brain damage from the explosions of IEDs. A study has shown that more than 300,000 vets returning had some form of traumatic brain injury, which can cause the veteran to not be able to handle everyday chores that we take for granted. The VA mishandles many of these cases, leaving veterans struggling to survive and unable to live a normal life.
I am a Vietnam veteran and understand the injustice veterans receive when it comes to how they were treated when it comes to Agent Orange.
The returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan should be treated in the highest manner they can be. Too often these men and women are discharged and never receive the proper medical treatment they deserve.
We need to stop this trend and let these returning veterans know how much their country loves and cares about their future.
I hope this Veterans Day veterans will be shown love and respect they have earned.
