The Bellefonte Victorian Christmas Committee will decorate the town starting at 8 a.m. Sunday at Centre County Courthouse.
Volunteers are welcome. A luncheon for the committee and volunteers will be held at the Elks Lodge 1094 that day.
Centre Hall Senior Center set for card party
The Centre Hall Senior Center will host a card party from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Centre Hall Fire Hall on Pennsylvania Avenue in the borough.
Participants can register to play 500 bid, Bridge or Pinochle. Registration required by Dec. 1 by calling 364-9511.
Sixth-graders invited to free cooking program
The School of Hospitality Management at Penn State is looking for fifteen sixth-grade students to participate in a Cooking with Kids after school program. The sixth-graders will be matched with university students in the hotel, restaurant and institutional management major who will teach them how to cook and how to eat.
The free program will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fridays from Jan. 22 through Feb. 26 in Cafe Laura in the Mateer Building, next to the Nittany Lion Inn. In addition to learning how to make various recipes, each class will contain a mini-lesson, such as nutrition, etiquette, measuring or kitchen safety. Participants will receive a program manual including all recipes, an apron and a chef’s hat.

Lemont church to hold Holiday Craft Fair
The Mount Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 E. Branch Rd., Lemont, will hold its annual Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5.
It will feature more than 40 vendors selling items such as hand painted resin figures, cutting boards, holiday ornaments, jewelry, wreaths, door toppers, plaques and signs, food products, woven bags, quilted items, needlework, homemade jams, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay and more. Baked goods and a light lunch will also be available.

Census Bureau to open local office
COLLEGE TOWNSHIP — The U.S. Census Bureau plans to open an office on East College Avenue this week that will serve eight central Pennsylvania counties, and U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Howard Township, announced the bureau is accepting applications for temporary employment.
The once-a-decade census will be taken next year.
The office at 3500 E. College Ave., Suite 1120, will serve Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter counties. It will open at 10 a.m. Friday.
Thompson said the Census Bureau will hire up to a million people across the country, with primary recruiting this fall and winter and most of the hiring in the spring. Positions include census takers, crew leaders, census clerks and recruiting assistants.
