This is turning into a busy day and we're scrambling to get things done before tonight's Philipsburg-Osceola-Bald Eagle Area match. We apologize for the lack of posts. But here's some news from Penn State wresting practice:
Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson said Wednesday freshman 125-pounder Frank Martellotti has been ruled academically ineligible for the spring semester.
Martellotti, a four-time PIAA Class AA placewinnner at Shady Side Academy, went 18-3 and was ranked 16th in last weeks Intermat poll.
The decision means Penn States fate at 125 will hinge on senior Brad Patakys knee. Pataky, who suffered the knee injury during preseason, missed the first seven dual meets. He returned at last months Southern Scuffle and went 4-0 during last weeks Virginia Duals despite wrestling through noticeable pain in the championship match against Michigan. Pataky is 7-2 this season.
