We were extremely disappointed to learn about the decision by St. Andrews Episcopal Church, of State College, to close its preschool program without any notice. Our son attended the preschool this year and was looking forward to attending again in the fall.
When we heard that St. Andrews had made the decision to close unilaterally without consulting teachers or parents, we were quite disheartened. We speak for many families by saying that this decision has caused us a great deal of anguish as we struggle to find another school for our son. We feel especially bad for all of the schools wonderful staff, who no doubt felt blindsided by this decision.
As parents, we would have been willing to pay higher tuition to preserve the school, but obviously we were never given a voice in the matter. It is difficult to envision another local school simply closing its doors one day without at least some input from parents and the public.
We understand that St. Andrews is under no obligation to continue to run a preschool, but we just want to reiterate our disappointment in the tactless manner by which the decision was made and conveyed.
