Geisinger and Bloomsburg health systems have signed a nonbinding letter of intent to explore the potential merger of Bloomsburg into Geisinger.

Both organizations stressed they are in the early stages of exploring possibilities and have not set a timetable to complete this process.

Geisinger and Shamokin Area Community Hospital are also working toward the merger of the hospital into Geisinger Medical Center. That potential merger is moving through the regulatory approval process.
