Senior Penn State running back Stephfon Green has been charged with buying alcohol for two minors in July.
According to the state police’s Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, Green, 22, was seen by an officer taking money from two minors at the state liquor store on North Atherton Street on July 15. Police said Green bought liquor with the money and gave the minors the liquor. Charges of furnishing alcohol to minors were filed on Tuesday, police said.
Green, a 5-foot-10, 193-pound senior from the Bronx, N.Y., rushed for 1,085 yards in his first three seasons of eligibility.
He was thrown off the team for preseason practice for an unspecified violation of team rules but reinstated the week before the season opener. He dressed for but did not play in last week’s opener against Indiana State, but head coach Joe Paterno said during Tuesday’s news conference that Green could see action in Saturday’s game against Alabama.
