Last weekend’s Harvest Festival at Shaver’s Creek was designed to please children, but the parents and grandparents that provided transport had plenty to do, see and taste as well. Food was an interesting mix of Doan’s Bones pizzas baked in a wood oven on site, Eden View’s stuffed pitas and healthy salads, the ubiquitous Kettle Korn and an interesting array of breads provided by Kevin Cook, who tends the ovens at McAlevy Bakery. I had never heard of it either! But if you are a CSA member of Plowshare or other local food providers, you have sampled his wares before. These were breads were sustainable—and delicious!
