The Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership recently recognized outgoing board members Dave Cassler and Paul Springer.
Cassler has served since the founding of the partnership in 1988, and Springer since 1991. Both were re-elected by partnership members every three years throughout their terms on the board. They were directly involved in recruitment of the South Hills School of Business and Technology to the Philipsburg area. Both will continue to serve on the South Hills Advisory Committee.
Greg Gunn, the chairman of the Insurance Agents and Brokers of Pennsylvania and the managing partner of Gunn Mowery, an independent insurance broker with an office in State College, testified alongside the IAB government affairs team in support of increasing Pennsylvania’s minimum auto insurance liability limits.
The Senate Banking and Insurance Committee held an informational hearing on Dec. 6 on Senate Bill 1339, which would raise minimum liability limits.

Goodall, who is a certified elder law attorney, has practiced in Centre County since 1976. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys as well as the Elder Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Wayne Smutz, executive director of Penn State World Campus and associate vice president for academic outreach, has been elected to the Sloan Consortium board of directors for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1.
The Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) is an institutional and professional leadership organization dedicated to integrating online education into the mainstream of higher education, helping institutions and individual educators improve the quality, scale and breadth of online education.
In November, Smutz was honored with the 2011 Sloan-C Outstanding Achievement in Online Education by an Individual Award, which recognizes a someone who has demonstrated extraordinary achievements in the field of online education. The World Campus received the 2011 Sloan-C Excellence in Institution-Wide Online Education Award.
