Encouraging signs for PSU hoops

I always enjoy Purdue games at the Bryce Jordan Center, dating back to the start of Big Ten play for Penn State.

A magic moment was seeing Gene Keady in action, and we missed him last night.

What would Keady have done during Purdue's dismal performance? Gotten himself thrown out, I think. Frustration mounted for the Boilers. They couldn't shoot nor rebound.

This team was 12-3? Really?

The upside though, was the hustling play of Penn State. A small but enthusiastic crowd saw the Lions play well most of the time and clearly saw encouraging signs.

Matt Glover's play stood out. The sophomore junior college transfer plays with great energy and is all over the court. Look for him to have an impact this Big Ten season.

Billy Oliver's shooting was outstanding, a clear improvement. And the other guys gave great effort and played as a team for Pat Chambers.

It was a great way to start Big Ten play at the BJC. A small but enthusiastic crowd saw a good one.

Indiana will provide a great test for the young Lions. Let's hope the hoops crowd -- along with returning students -- turns out
