Cory Boone is a key figure in Alvernia’s 12-4 basketball season.

Boone, a Bald Eagle Area High School graduate, had 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots in a 67-61 victory over Albright College.

The 6-foot-8 senior center leads the team in blocks with 33, is second in rebounds with 99 and scoring average at 11.6 points per game. He also has 16 assists and 11 steals to date.

Wrestling

Mitchell Port (Bellefonte, Edinboro) improved to 21-6 with a 6-0 win over Lock Haven’s Matt Bonson, the former Lewistown wrestler. Port, a redshirt freshman, has won six straight matches at 141 pounds.

Steve Bosak (State College, Cornell) is now 21-2 at 184 pounds.

Erik Galloway (State College, Pitt) has a 13-6 record at 133 pounds.

Basketball

Tyann McDaniel (Bellefonte, Misericordia) scored 22 points in an 86-57 win over Delaware Valley. Misericordia is 8-7.

Emily Suhey (State College, Villanova) played three minutes and had no stats in a 76-43 loss to Notre Dame. Villanova is 12-7.

Korey McCaffrey (Penns Valley, Susquehanna) has 62 rebounds, 31 assists, 21 blocks, 24 steals and a 10.4 scoring average. Susquehanna is 4-14.

Brittany LeVan (Penns Valley, Kutztown) has 31 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and 27 points. Kutztown is 6-12.

Brian Scholly (State College, Juniata) has a 9.1 scoring average. He also averages 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, .8 steals and .2 blocks per game. Juniata is 13-5.

Kate McDonald (State College, Juniata) averages 12.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.0 steals and .6 blocks. Juniata is 17-1.

Liz Wortman (Bellefonte, Juniata) averages 2.5 minutes per game.

Jena Matter (Bellefonte, Mansfield) has 86 rebounds, 18 assists, 11 steals, two blocks and an 8.9 scoring average. Mansfield is 6-10.

Mitch Moyer (BEA, PSU-Altoona) has 22 rebounds, four assists, seven seals and a 4.0 scoring average. PSU-Altoona is 1-16.

Alidia Strouse (State College, PSU-Altoona) has 73 rebounds, 13 assists, three blocks, 71 steals and averages 4.6 points per game. PSUAltoona is 5-12.

Pat St. Andrews (State College, PSUBehrend) averages 5.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and .5 steals. PSUBehrend is 5-12.

Brittany Butterworth (BEA, Pitt-Greensburg) leads the team in assists with 66, steals with 36, has 60 rebounds and a 3.4 scoring average. Pitt- Greensburg is 7-11.

Swimming

Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Grove City) placed second in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:31.39 in a dual meet loss to Denison. Grove City is 7-3.

Jenny Ryan (Bellefonte, Grove City) won the 200 IM in 2:15.11 and was on the winning 400 freestyle relay team that posted a time of 3:28.87 against Denison.

Anne Lawrence (State College, PSU-Behrend) won the 200 butterfly in 2:22.10 and was on the winning 800 freestyle relay team that had a time of 8:59.46 in a 149-100 loss to Washington & Jefferson.

Joe Woodman (State College, St. Vincent’s) set a school record in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:24.17 and also won the 500 freestyle in 4:59.68 in a 156-116 loss to Washington & Jefferson.

Indoor track

Christie Johnson (State College, Army) placed fourth in the pentathlon with 3345 points in the Harvard Challenge. Her highest event finish was the high jump where she had a height of 1.62 meters.
