I would like to comment on something that most of us are dealing with right now: the scandal. Actually, the healing from the scandal that we are all attempting to get through.
I have been a longtime fan of Joe Paterno and, like Nike Chairman Phil Knight, I give Paterno the title of hero. In my book, that is a relatively exclusive club with a membership of two Paterno and my late father.
I also, like others, love Penn State. I came here for school and never left; Happy Valley is now my home. The dilemma for me and countless other people is how to get past my schools mistreatment of its biggest supporter.
The few heartfelt minutes that Phil Knight displayed on stage at the Bryce Jordan Center will serve as a giant step for me in my healing process, and I think it will help a lot of others. He said what a lot of us have been saying, but, because we have blue-tinted glasses, nobody seems to want to listen.
I can live with other people not understanding the Penn State way, but I have a serious problem with people not understanding the Joe Paterno Way. Thank, you Phil Knight, for saying loudly what a lot us have been saying since this scandal started.
