STATE COLLEGE Bellefonte junior Nick Shawley moved up in weight and produced a big victory to help the Red Raiders defeat State College 49-17 in high school wrestling action Thursday night.
Bellefonte coach Mike Maney bumped Shawley from 182 to 195 pounds, and Shawley responded by pinning Jack Haffner in 3:49. The victory was Shawleys 10th straight. Nine of those victories have come by fall.
Shawleys pin was one of five by the Red Raiders (9-5). Luke Leathers (113), Austin Cable (152), Tanner Day (160) and Toby Cain (182) added pins, Leo Wortman (145) had a technical fall, and Trevor Corl (120) and Tom Traxler (126) won by major decision. Corl defeated Derek Horner 10-2 and Traxler handled Ty Millward 11-0.
Mike Kauffman and Jake Haun had major decision victories for State College. Kauffman defeated Nate Rosenberger 11-0 at 106 and Haun defeated Tanner Fetterolf 13-5 at 138. State Colleges J.B. Holden defeated Zach Musser 5-0 at 132.
