State College police said a man suffered minor injuries after he was struck by a car in a parking lot Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the crash happened as 84-year-old Mary Petyak, of Pleasant Gap, was backing out of a parking space at 905 University Drive, State College. But, she told police, she mistakenly hit the gas pedal thinking she was in drive. The impact caused the man, David Oselinsky, 53, of Port Matilda, go to airborne, then strike the pavement. Petyak’s car, a 2003 Ford Focus, then hit a parked 2008 Chevrolet Equinox, jumped a curb into some bushes and came to rest against a building.

Police said Petyak and Oselinsky were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center.
