SPRING MILLS — Tyrone’s Richard Crabtree converted a layup with 1.5 seconds remaining to lift the Golden Eagles past Penns Valley 40-39 on Thursday.

Penns Valley led 12-11 after the first quarter, 21-18 at halftime and 30-27 entering the fourth. The Golden Eagles outscored the Rams 13-9 in the final quarter.

Five Rams scored five or more points. Sam Snyder led Penns Valley (7-8) with 11 points, Luke Weaver scored eight and Will Jackson added seven.

Crabtree scored a game-high 22 points. Charles Wilson-Adams and Brandon Gripp each added eight points for Tyrone (13-2).

“They guys played their hearts out and we got great contributions from everybody,” Penns Valley coach Terry Glunt said. “Tyrone is the No. 1 Double- A team in District 6. This says a lot about our kids and how far they have come to hold an athletic team like Tyrone to 40 points.”
