Fifteen years ago, one of the now retired elementary physical education teachers, Rebecca Robinson, started a jump-rope program in her classes. It has grown into an activity for all the elementary students from second to fifth grades in the State College Area school district.
The Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser has raised more than $270,000.00 in the past 15 years for the American Heart Association. Last year, the schools raised $20,248.00.
This years Jump Rope for Heart sessions will be at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the State College Area High School North Building gym. We encourage children from all the elementary schools to come jump for the cause, and we would love for parents and community members to come see these amazing children having fun and raising money for research and education about heart disease and stroke.
