The basketball teams for Bald Eagle Area and Penns Valley have their playoff futures mapped out.

Pairings for the District 6 playoffs were announced Monday, with the BEA boys and girls and Penns Valley boys all learning where they are headed in a quest for district dominance.

The schedule will begin next Tuesday with a doubleheader at Mifflin County High School for the Lady Eagles and Rams. BEA (16-4) is the No. 4 seed in Class AA and will meet No. 13 Juniata (10-11) at 6 p.m. in a first-round contest.

At 7:30 p.m. on the Huskies’ court, the ninth-seeded Rams (10-9) will face No. 8 Mount Union (15-6).

Should the Lady Eagles win, they would meet either No. 5 Westmont- Hilltop or No. 12 Southern Huntingdon in the quarterfinals later in the week. The winner between the Rams and Trojans will have to face top-seeded Tyrone (18-2) in a quarterfinal later in the week.

The BEA boys (11-11) are seeded third in Class AAA and will meet No. 2 Somerset (13-8), with the winner of that game to tangle with top-seeded Johnstown (19-2). Sites, dates and times for those games will be announced later.

Pairings for the Class AAAA brackets, with both the State College boys and girls, will be posted next week. The Little Lion boys are expected to draw the No. 1 seed in their bracket.

Clampionships for all four classes will take place Feb. 29 to March 3, likely at St. Francis University.

The top three finishers in Class AA and the top two in Class AAA and AAAA each earn bids to the PIAA tournament. The runners-up in the two biggest classes must participate in a play-in game to make the full PIAA field.
