SPRING MILLS — Central’s Brandon Myers had a big third quarter to lead the Scarlet Dragons past Penns Valley 40-26 in boys’ basketball action Monday night.

Myers, a 6-foot-4 senior, scored 11 of his game-high 18 points in the third quarter.

The big quarter helped Central outscore Penns Valley 24-12 in the second half.

“They got some separation in the third quarter,” Penns Valley coach Terry Glunt said. “Once that happens, we’re not a team that can start making huge comebacks. We needed to jump on them early. Their big took over and he did a nice job.”

Matt Ritchey added points for Central (11-9).

Sam Snyder led the Rams (10-9) with nine points. Dalton Ulmanic and Austin Auman each scored six points.

The loss snapped the Rams’ three-game winning streak. Penns Valley ends its regular season Friday against Huntingdon at home.
