JOHNSTOWN Lexi Josefik and Carrie Barnyak each had clutch performances as Bald Eagle Area locked up a big road victory 59-56 over Bishop McCort on Monday night.
Josefiks two free throws with eight seconds left secured the victory over the Crimson Crushers (14-7), who won 60-45 in Wingate nine days earlier.
It was nice to go all that way for a win, BEA coach Troy Butterworth said. The girls played really well.
Barnyak and Marissa Ward led the Lady Eagles (17-4) with 13 points each and Mary Pillot added 11. Barnyaks points came off the bench after the Lady Eagles got into foul trouble.
Carrie Barnyak stepped up tonight, Butterworth said. She came off the bench when we were in foul trouble early. Carrie came in and played a great game.
Josefik also had five steals, Kaitlyn Miller grabbed four rebounds and Allison Simpson had three assists.
Bishop McCort was led by Larissa Swanks 16 points, Jill Keggs 15 and Leah Bridges 10.
