Detour Starts Next Week on a Section of Route 26

Continuing sewer and water line work makes detour necessary

State College – PennDOT advises drivers that sewer and water line work will bring a detour to a section of Route 26 (College Avenue) in State College, starting Monday, June 11. Since early May, utility crews have been working between Atherton Street and Butz Street to install new water and sewer lines and re-pave the roadway. Starting Monday, the work will require a full closure and a detour will be in place.

The detour is expected to last through the summer. The official detour will use South Atherton Street, Westerly Parkway, and Blue Course Drive. Drivers may also use alternate routes around the closure. Motorists are reminded to obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
