UNIVERSITY PARK — With 10 teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament last fall, Penn State has set its fall schedule.
Among the highlight match-ups set for Jeffrey Field this fall, Indiana visits on Sept. 29 and Akron drops in Oct. 10.
The regular season opens with the Penn State Classic with Stetson on Aug. 25 and Hartford on Aug. 27, with Duquesne following Aug. 31.
Following a trip to Georgetown, Penn State will host a pair of former Nittany Lions in their first returns to State College as head coaches. West Virginia, guided by former player and assistant coach Marlon LeBlanc, visits Sept. 6 and Albany, with Trevor Gorman, is next on Sept. 14. Gorman both played for Penn State and is the son of long-time former coach Barry Gorman.
After hosting Adelphi Sept. 16, the Big Ten slate opens Sept. 21 at Wisconsin.
The home schedule also includes Michigan State (Oct. 14), Bucknell (Oct. 17) and Ohio State (Oct. 28).
The Nittany Lions also will play three exhibition games, hosting Hartwick on Aug. 13 and Drexel on Aug. 16, then visiting Maryland on Aug. 20.
Also Thursday, Penn State announced the addition of Martin Seiler as a transfer to the roster. The native of Stuttgart, Germany, spent a redshirt season at St. Johns last fall and played two years at Tyler (Texas) Junior College. His team won a pair of NJCAA national championships and amassed a record of 41-0-1. The defender will have two years of eligibility remaining.
