PHILIPSBURG Josh Potter tossed a three-hitter and was backed by plenty of offense as Philipsburg drubbed Unionville 13-0 Wednesday evening in Centre County Baseball League action.
Potter struck out eight, didn’t walk anyone and gave up only three singles in the six-inning contest.
A.J. Robinson belted a three-run homer as the Pirates turned a tight contest into the lopsided affair with 11 runs over the fourth and fifth innings. Robinson finished 3-for-3, knocking in a total of four runs.
John Shaffer added a pair of doubles and five RBIs, Matt Curtis also was 3-for-3 and Ryan Mostyn doubled and knocked in three runs as the top five in the Pirate batting order accounted for every RBI, all but three of their hits andall but two of their runs.
Radley Housel took the loss for the Cardinals.
Spring Mills 3, Pleasant Gap 2
SPRING MILLS Spring Mills scored all three of its runs in the first three innings Wednesday night, then held off Pleasant Gap’s seventh-inning rally for the win.
Tyler Lalli earned the win for Spring Mills, while Kevin Conklin blasted a home run in the third inning to highlight the Braves’ offense.
Conner Poorman doubled and Steven Alterio chipped in with two singles for Pleasant Gap.
Clarence 15, Blanchard 3
BLANCHARD Clarance rolled past Blanchard on Wednesday, giving up 12 hits but only surrendering the three runs.
The Mounties collected 14 hits, with Ryan MacNamara, Johnny Schall, Justin Koleno and Ryan Kochick all having multiple-hit games. Adam Fisher belted a homer to back winning pitcher Dave Urbanick.
Ryan Watkins, Matt McGhee, James Gallagher and Josh Bechdel all had two hits at the plate for the Bees.
