Arrest made after pregnant woman is beaten

Published: June 26, 2012

A Spring Township man was arrested Saturday after police said he assaulted a pregnant woman.

Jason W. Bohannon, 30, is in county jail on bail of $25,000.

Police said someone saw Bohannon and a woman arguing, yelling and gesturing in a parking lot. Police said Bohannon hit the woman and she punched him.

Bohannon was seen grabbing her and head-butting her twice, after which she fell to the ground and it appeared as if he was going to kick her. That’s when someone tried to break up the dispute.

When police arrived, Bohannon had gone back inside his residence. He told police he was sleeping when the woman woke him up and they began arguing. He tried to leave, and that’s how the argument continued outside.

Police said Bohannon lunged at a police officer and tried to kick him while he was being escorted to the police car. Bohannon also tried to bite another officer, police said.

Bohannon is charged with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct.
