County League | Ducks power past Mounties in slugfest

CLARENCE — There was no shortage of runs or hits in Clarence on Tuesday night as Lemont outslugged the Mounties 20-10 in six innings in Centre County League baseball action.

Johnny Martinez led the Ducks’ 17-hit night with a 3-for-4 effort, hitting a pair of doubles and three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning. Erik Kempton and Ben Sallade each added two singles and a double in the game, as Zach Moerschbacher picked up the win for Lemont.

Clarence finished with nine hits on the night, as Brian Kochik blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the second, and Ryan MacNamara and George Schall each added a pair of singles.

Justin Koleno took the loss for the Mounties (10-8).

Philipsburg 14-18, Mifflin County 4-7

MILROY — The Pirates swept the Stars in a doubleheader Tuesday to improve to 14-2 on the season.

Ryan Mostyn led the Pirates both on the mound and at the plate in a six-inning Game 1 victory, singling and doubling off Stars starter Thad Gearhart. Matt McCamley and A.J. Robinson also added doubles in the win.

Mostyn gave up four runs on five hits — all singles — for the pitching victory.

Robinson notched the six-inning win in the nightcap for the Pirates, who scored 10 runs in the first inning. Nick Daye blasted a home run and two doubles, Mostyn collected three singles, and McCamley, Jon Shaffer and Robinson all had two hits in a 20-hit attack.

Blanchard 10, Spring Mills 3

BLANCHARD — Chad Todd hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the second to back pitcher Kyle Miller’s performance as the Bees powered past the Braves.

The Braves scored three runs in the fourth to close to within 6-3 of the Bees (7-9), as Blanchard sealed the win with three more runs in the sixth.

Miller went 2-for-4 and James Gallagher hit a double in the win. Cody Miller led the Braves with a double.

Howard 11, Lewistown 4

HOWARD — The Hawks managed to score a run in every inning on Tuesday to run away from Lewistown.

Bones Fisher sparked Howard (10-6) with a double in the bottom of the first inning to knock in a run. Tyler Womer also homered for the Hawks, while Dylan Womer added a pair of doubles and Evan Gettig also doubled to help Brian Pelka to a win on the mound.

Kevin Reigle led the Predators with a home run, and Tanner Kibe also doubled in the loss.

Unionville 9, Pleasant Gap 7

UNIONVILLE — Josh O’Brien connected for a walk-off three-run home run to lift the Cardinals past the Padres, as Jordan Brennan picked up the complete-game win.

Mike Lutz, Dan Cole and Eric Gates all collected three hits in the game for Unionville (3-13). Greg Reeder and Devin Alterio also homered for the Padres (3-13), while Tyler James added two singles.
