UNIVERISTY PARK – The State College Spikes improved to 6-0 at home by defeating Batavia 1-0 in 10 innings tonight.
Rodarrick Jones scored the game's only run on Chris Diaz's single to left field with no outs. Jones led off the 10th inning with a single.
Starter Luis Heredia, a 17-year-old the Pittsburgh Pirtates signed for $2.6 million in 2010, allowed three hits in five scoreless innings. Heredia has allowed one earned run through 14 New York-Penn League innings.
Relievers Josh Smith, Kyle Haynes and Jordan Cooper combined to allow four hits in five innings.
