PHILIPSBURG — State police say a borough woman suffered minor injuries when she confronted a man in her apartment rummaging through her purse.

Police said the incident occurred just after midnight Friday at an apartment on West Presqueisle Street in Philipsburg.

The victim, 46, told police she came out of her bathroom and encountered a man going through her purse and taking money. She engaged the man in a physical confrontation that continued out onto the street, police reported.

The man got into a burgundy van and attempted to drive away. The woman hung onto the side of the vehicle and the man “kicked the victim several times and knocked her off the vehicle onto the roadway,” according to a police report.

The suspect then fled.

An investigation is ongoing.
