WINGATE A.J. Onder and Kody Hamer combined to hold Mount Union to six hits and the Bald Eagle offense took care of the rest as the local squad opened the District 5 All-Stars 13-14 Tournament by beating Mount Union 15-5 in five innings on Saturday.
Onder and Hamer each struck out two batters while Ryan Guenot notched four hits, two of the doubles.
Hamer doubled and singled while Noah Chambers drilled two base hits.
Bald Eagle will host Penns Valley on Tuesday.
Smith leads Bandits to win
BELLEFONTE Taylor Smith fired a complete-game six-hitter, retiring the final eight batters he faced, to help Bellefonte defeat Altoona 4-2 on Saturday.
Taylor struck out five for the Bandits (9-15), who staked a 2-1 lead in the first inning after Altoona booted a Branton Quay grounder.
Bellefonte led 3-2 after three, as Quay delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the third, before adding an insurance run in the sixth when Kevin Tate doubled to lead off the inning, later scoring on Zach Williams single.
