District 5 Little League champion Bellefonte will open Sectional Tournament play on Saturday at Worthington.
Bellefonte, which defeated Four Leaf 9-4 last Saturday for the District 5 crown, will face the District 11 champion in the opening round of play in the double-elimination sectional event. The District 11 champion has yet to be determined.
Champions from District 6 and District 7 also are participating in the tournament. The finals are slated for July 17.
Sectional winners advance to the Pennsylvania State Tournament, which begins July 22 at Creekview Park in Stroudsburg. That event will feature the states eight sectional champions. Keystone Little League, the defending state and Mid-Atlantic regional champion, was eliminated in District 12 Tournament play.
State champions advance to regional competition with those winners advancing to the Little League World Series, which will be held Aug. 16-26 in South Williamsport.
Locally, State College is hosting the Little League 11-12 Softball Championships at Montresor Field. Games begin at 12:30 p.m. today. Mifflin County, which defeated Bald Eagle Area, is the Section 4 champion. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
