Last night I received a telephone call from a man with a thick accent.
He knew my name and the town I lived in and he claimed to represent a charity for the families of police officers killed in the line of duty.
He continued to tell me how important the charity was and what donation levels the charity had while ignoring or talking over my questions. When he asked how much I would contribute, I asked that he send me information in the mail because I would not provide my credit card number over the telephone, and he suddenly hung up.
His actions did not sound like those of a legitimate charity.
There may be a scam afoot by people preying on the good nature of others.
