WORTHINGTON — Garrett Reiter gave Bellefonte a solid four innings on the mound and capped off the night with the game-winning hit in the top of the sixth inning as Bellefonte knocked off Huntingdon 6-5 in Mondays losers bracket final of the Pennsylvania Section 4 Tournament at the Worthington Little League Field.
Bellefonte will meet Hershey Blue in a best-of- three final beginning at 6 p.m. today. Bellefonte will need to win twice to advance to the state tournament.
Bellefonte struck for a run in the first inning on Tyler Kreger RBI single, and made it 2-0 in the second when a Huntingdon fielding error allowed Reiter to score.
Reiter retired Huntingdon in order through the first three innings, before Huntingdon struck for two runs with two outs in the fourth to tie the game. Nick Holesa began the rally with a line drive to left-center field, scoring on a single by Seth Baney.
Alex Mykut then doubled for Huntingdon to plate Baney.
Bellefonte regained the lead in the top of the fifth as Cade Fortney doubled, moved to third on Kregers fielders choice and scored a single from Tanner Helms.
Reiter recorded an out before walking the next two batters in the bottom of the fifth, when Bellefonte went to Cooper Crunick. Nick Zanic delivered an RBI single off Crunick to tie the game at 3-3, before Holesa came through with a two-out RBI hit to give Huntingdon the lead heading into the sixth.
Bellefonte, however, would respond in its final at-bat. With one out, Cole Breon was hit by a pitch and Daniel Catchmark followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Reiter then singled down the right-field line to plate the tying and go-ahead runs.
After a one-out single, Crunick struck out the final two batters to advance Bellefonte to the championship series.
