Milesburg man jailed on trespass charges

Published: July 19, 2012

A Milesburg man is in jail on charges he broke into his girlfriend’s apartment in Bellefonte early Wednesday morning.

According to Bellefonte police, Charles Harter, 38, was told by the woman over the past few days not to come by her place. When he came by Wednesday morning, the woman was asleep and he woke her up, screaming profanities and accusing her of taking his things, police said.

The woman told police she called 911 and Harter left.

Harter was found in Milesburg and told police he confronted the woman but didn’t yell. He also told police that her bedroom was open and not locked, as she told police.

Harter is in jail on $15,000 bail awaiting a preliminary hearing next week on felony burglary and trespassing charges and several summary offenses.
