Penn State junior Silas Redd was named to the Doak Walker Award Watch list Thursday. The award honors the nation's top running back.
Redd is the Nittany Lions top returning offensive player after rushing for 1,241 yards on 244 carries last season. He scored seven touchdowns and eclipsed 100 yards in Penn State's first five Big Ten games.
Redd is one of 52 running backs on the watch list. Wisconsin's Montee Ball and James White, Michigan States Le'Veon Bell, Nebraskas Rex Burkhead, Ohio States Jordan Hall and Michigans Fitzgerald Toussaint are also on the list.
Former Penn State All-American and State College High School standout Larry Johnson won the award in 2002.
Redd was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List last week.
