Published: July 20, 2012

Patton Township police said two were men were arrested after breaking into cars in Park Forest early Monday morning.

Zachary Putnam, 19, and Jonas Giesey, 18, both of Patton Township, were seen by a resident, who noticed a light on inside a car, township police said.

One of the men told police the plan was to steal from the cars and sell what they stole.

Police think there could be others whose cars were broken into and ask anyone who has reported a theft from the time in question to call 800-479-0050.

Putnam is in jail on $2,500 bail awaiting a preliminary hearing next week on charges of theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit theft.

Online court records don’t show Giesey has been charged yet.
