Letter to the editor | Commissioners salute jobs well done

Published: July 20, 2012

The Centre County Board of Commissioners recognize and thank the police agencies throughout Centre County for providing security for the county courts and the borough of Bellefonte during last month’s Jerry Sandusky trial.

Officers and troopers from the Bellefonte and State College police departments, the Pennsylvania State Police and Ferguson, Patton and Spring township police departments endured long hours in the sweltering heat and intense media scrutiny to ensure order was preserved. We are deeply grateful.

In light of the cooperation and high degree of professionalism displayed, Centre County government stands beholden to all these agencies. We especially appreciate Bellefonte Police Chief Shawn Weaver for his hard work and dedication to the safety of his community.

From weeks before the proceedings to the final reading of the verdict, the police of Centre County answered the call above and beyond. Thank you!
