An Ohio man is behind bars, accused of threatening to kill his girlfriend during an argument in a Spring Township home early Thursday morning.
Township police said William Terry, 39, of Columbus, Ohio, put a gun to the woman’s head, then in her mouth and cocked it all while she was holding their 2-year-old daughter. The gun was found to be stolen from Portsmouth, Ohio.
Terry was jailed on $250,000 bail after being arraigned Friday morning by District Judge Carmine Prestia. Police said Terry was on probation in Ohio at the time of his arrest.
Police may not have known about the alleged incident if it weren’t for a Children and Youth Services caseworker who made a surprise visit to the couple’s home Thursday because of “past drug activity,” police said.
When police arrived, they interviewed the girlfriend and her father, who was staying at the place.
The woman told police she came home to an angry Terry, who threatened her. The woman’s father told police he remembered Terry’s words: “If you ever turn me in, I’ll channel your head like it’s nothing,” police wrote in the charging documents.
The woman told police she feared for her life.
She also told police Terry pushed her down and she landed on the child.
Police searched the home and found in the bathroom a bag of needles, empty syringes and empty heroin packets.
Terry is charged with illegal possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, making terrorist threats, child endangerment, simple assault, reckless endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The child was put in protective custody, police said.
