Gretchen Miller,  of State College, was named to the dean’s list at Elizabethtown College for the spring semester. To earn this recognition, students must earn a GPA of 3.6 or better.

Miller is a senior at Elizabethtown College.

Capt. Tyler A. Pezalski, MC, USA, a son of Raymond and Cynthia Pezalski, of Boalsburg, has completed his four years of residency at the National Capital Consortium in Washington, D.C. He has been assigned to serve as an anesthesiologist at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, N.C. for the next four years. He will be accompanied by his wife, Jocelyn, and his daughter, Brynn Marie.

Pezalski is a 2000 graduate of State College Area High School, a 2004 graduate of Penn State and a 2008 graduate of Penn State Hershey Medical School.

Peter Kistler, a son of Tom and Mary Jane Kistler, of Centre Hall, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich.

Kistler, a 2010 graduate of Penns Valley Area High School, is a sophomore liberal arts major at Hillsdale College.

Colin T. Nelson, of State College, has been named to the dean’s list at Waynesburg University for the spring term. Honorees must achieve a GPA of at least 3.5.

Nelson, a graduate of State College Area High School, is a freshman majoring in international culture at Waynesburg University.

Tyler D. Hoffman,a son of Keith and Lori Hoffman, of Clarence, was named to the dean’s list at Penn State-Altoona campus for the spring term.

Neale McPheron, a son of Marilyn and Bruce McPheron, of Port Matilda, and the husband of Kiley (Campanis) McPheron, formerly of State College. was recently promoted to petty officer, first class.

McPheron is a Navy rescue swimmer and antisubmarine warfare crewman in Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 71 based in San Diego. Following a recently concluded deployment to the western Pacific and Persian Gulf, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his accomplishments at sea. During this deployment, he surpassed 1,000 flight hours in his Navy career. He also was named HSM-71 aircrewman of the year for 2011 and HSM-71 sailor of the quarter for the first quarter of 2012.

son of Bill Lukens and Cheryl Price, of Centre Hall, graduated summa cum laude from Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering on May 5. As a senior, he received the Boeing Scholarship, given to the outstanding aerospace engineering student. His Senior Design Project Team won the best of show award for the aerospace engineering department at the University’s Northrop Grumman Senior Design Showcase in April.

William Clifford, a nephew of Gina Beisel, of Port Matilda, recently graduated from Milton Hershey School, a privately endowed school in Hershey. He was admitted to MHS in 2007 and was an active member of the Praise Band, Guitar Ensemble and Self-Defense Club, and he performed in the “Big River” and “Godspell” school musical productions.

Clifford will continue his education at Kutztown University to major in music.

Sarah Dort, of State College, earned honor roll distinction at the University of Kansas for the fall 2011 semester.

Dort is a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School and is a senior majoring in psychology. She was named to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences 2012 spring honor roll.

Rosaria Altomare, of Pennsylvania Furnace, and Emily Suhey, of Boalsburg, were named to the dean’s list at Villanova University for the spring semester. To qualify, one must earn a GPA of at least 3.5.

Altomore is studying English in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, while Suhey is pursuing a bachelor's degree in the College of Engineering.
