Corrections have been added to the Freeh report on Penn States handling of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, some of the fixes involving dates and others word selection.
The report from former FBI director Louis Freeh was issued July 12.
Several corrections to the report and to Freehs remarks were posted July 14, 20 and 23.
The latest date was Monday, the same day NCAA President Mark Emmert referred repeatedly to the report in announcing severe sanctions against Penn State.
The Errata Sheet was posted with both the full Freeh report and the text of Freehs statement at www.TheFreehReportonPSU.com, where the full 267-page document may be found.
Listed corrections to the Freeh report were:
On Page iv (in the Table of Contents), IV. Curley Meets with Sandusky March 1998 was corrected to read IV. Curley Meets with Sandusky March 2001 (posted July 14), referring to then-athletics director Tim Curley.
Meets with Sandusky March 1998 was corrected to read Curley Meets with Sandusky March 2001 (July 14).
Investigative Council (two references) was corrected to read Special Investigative Counsel (July 20).
to Penn State outside legal counsel Wendell Courtney, From 2008 to 2011, he was also legal counsel for the Second Mile and sat on its Board was corrected to From 2009 to 2011, he was also legal counsel for the Second Mile. (July 20).
description of interaction between Courtney and former senior vice president for finance Gary Schultz, the following correction was listed: Courtney emails Schultz a newspaper story about the Sandusky charges. concerning the 2011 grand jury testimony of former President Graham Spanier, Schultz, the late Joe Paterno and Curley, the following correction was listed: On November 4, 2011, Schultz emailed Wendell Courtney, Penn States former outside legal counsel, stating, I was never aware that Penn State police investigated inappropriate touching in a shower in 1998. changed to On November 4, 2011, Wendell Courtney, Penn States former outside legal counsel, emailed Schultz, stating, I was never aware that Penn State police investigated inappropriate touching in a shower in 1998. In addition, the following correction was made to Page 5 of Freehs statement, delivered on July 12 in Philadelphia as part of the release of the findings:
Original text: We never had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Paterno, but he did say what he told (Mike) McQueary on February 10, 2011 when Mc- Queary reported what he saw Sandusky doing in the shower the night before: You did what you had to do. It is my job now to figure out what we want to do.
