Philipsburg man’s cross-burning trial delayed until September

Published: July 26, 2012

A Philipsburg man’s trial in federal court on charges of cross-burning has been delayed until September.

Ryan Held, aka Ryan Foley, was scheduled to appear in federal court in Johnstown on Monday. But he’ll next be there Sept. 24.

A federal grand jury indicted Held, alleging he intimidated a black man and a white woman by burning a cross outside the woman’s home in Woodland on Aug. 20. The man had been staying with the woman.

Held has pleaded not guilty and remains free on $25,000 unsecured bond.
