Letter to the editor | Too many are being punished

Published: August 2, 2012

I feel very ashamed that one of our Penn State alumni abused young children. I believe we should defend our children.

I also believe in personal responsibility. The individual responsible for the evil actions against these children is being punished by the criminal courts. The people who allegedly were his enablers will have their due process in court soon.

The punishment for these evil actions against young children belongs with the criminal and civil courts.

The NCAA sanctions are punitive with a capital P. The vacating of football victories from the 1998 through 2011 seasons has the stench of longstanding jealousy of the legitimate accomplishments of the Penn State football team and coaches.

Why should the entire Penn State family and surrounding community be punished for the actions of a few individuals? What rule of law and justice is that?
