Lemont slugs way into Centre County League final

— Lemont advanced to the Centre County League finals on Thursday night by pounding Lewistown 16-5 in Game 4 to take the semifinal series 3-1 against the Predators.

Cory Hornyak ripped two home runs to pace the Ducks’ 14-hit night.

Ben Sallade also chipped in a home run, while Erik Kempton and Gabe Menna added doubles.

Aaron Tressler earned the win on the mound for Lemont.

Ryan Keefer suffered the loss for Lewistown, as Chad Battista blasted two home runs and Shawn Heckert hit a double to close out the season for the Predators.

Lemont will play the winner of Sunday’s Game 5 between Clarence and Philipsburg in Game 1 of the final series on Tuesday.

Clarence 5, Philipsburg 1

CLARENCE — Justin Koleno pitched a complete game two-hitter and struck out four batters as Clarence topped Philipsburg 5-1 in Thursday’s Game 4 of the Centre County League semifinals.

The Mounties and Pirates will play a deciding Game 5 at 4 p.m. Sunday in Philipsburg.

Offensively, Clarence pounded out 14 hits against Philipsburg’s Jeremy Potter, as a three-run third inning proved to be the deciding factor.

John Schall, Ryan MacNamara, Brian Kochik, George Schall and Dillon Schall all singled and doubled to lead Clarence. Dave Urbanik had two singles.

Potter went the distance in the loss. Matt McCamley blasted a solo home run in the top of the third to score the only run of the night for the Pirates.
