Woman accosted while walking in downtown State College

Published: August 6, 2012

State College police received a report early Sunday morning of an incident when a woman was walking home in the 300 block of South Allen Street.

Police said the woman reported a black man was walking in front of her before 1:20 a.m., repeatedly looking back at her, causing her discomfort.

When she crossed the street, she told police the man also crossed, and grabbed her arm, saying, “Little girls shouldn’t walk home alone.”

Police said the woman punched his arm and ran south on Allen Street, while the man ran north.

Police said they learned of the incident when another person found her driver’s license. When they returned it to her, she said it had fallen from her pocket during the incident.

The man is described as between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, and was wearing a gray T-shirt and jeans.
