BENNER TOWNSHIP — A Howard man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday evening on state Route 150, state police said.
Matthew Henry Snyder, 25, died as a result of injuries he suffered in a head-on collision at about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection with Rockview Road.
Rockview state police said a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 20-year-old Danielle Nicole Packer, of Bellefonte, crossed the center line and struck Snyder’s 2003 Hyundai Accent.
Police said the Trailblazer was in the northbound lane when the driver “became distracted, causing the unit to drift completely into the southbound lane,” where the collision occurred.
The impact caused the Hyundai to spin 90 degrees counterclockwise and come to rest in a grass field.
The Trailblazer spun 180 degrees and stopped in the southbound lane, facing south, police reported.
Both vehicles suffered heavy front-end damage, police said.
Snyder was pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers.
Packer suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the Trailblazer, Julian Kenneth Shutak, 21, of Maryland, was not injured.
Police said no seat belts were in use at the time of the crash. An investigation continues.
