Update: Motorcyclist killed in Union Township crash identified as N.C. man

Published: August 9, 2012

A North Carolina man died early this morning in Union Township after his motorcycle struck a pickup truck while trying to pass another vehicle.

State police at Philipsburg said Demarcus Locklear was traveling south on South Eagle Valley Road, the old U.S. Route 220, at about 6 a.m. when he swung into the opposite lane to get around a car.

His 2012 Harley Davidson FLHX then collided with the front bumper of a northbound 2001 Dodge Ram driven by Barry Walk, of Union Township, police said. Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers pronounced Locklear, of Lumberton, N.C., dead at the scene. In an earlier police report, Locklear was identified as a Wingate resident.

Walk suffered minor injuries from his seat belt and air bag, police said. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage.
