Gov. Tom Corbett won’t be at this year’s Ag Progress Days’ Wednesday lunch, an annual event that gives politicians a chance to rub elbows with farmers, Penn State administrators and other locals.
Instead, he’ll be on a trade mission tour in Silicon Valley in California today and Wednesday.
The Government and Industry Day luncheon at Ag Progress is an invitation-only event that typically attracts politicians and political hopefuls, depending on the year.
Gov. Ed Rendell attended almost every year he was in office.
Corbett attended last year, the year before that as a gubernatorial candidate and prior to that as attorney general.
Corbett’s Silicon Valley tour includes meetings with seven companies that employ 4,000 Pennsylvanians.
This year’s Ag Progress lunch will include Penn State President Rodney Erickson, state Agriculture Secretary George Greig, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and Penn State Ag Council Board President Gregg Kirkham.
