A Snow Shoe man has been charged with assaulting his mother.

State police said Darren Kormanec, 26, threw a 21/ 2-foot-tall wooden lawn ornament at his mother that hit her during an argument Monday evening in Moshannon. The ornament, shaped like a bear, broke her skin and caused bleeding.

Kormanec was arrested and charged with simple assault. He was jailed in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing next week.
